my manatee appreciation activities were fun! i read lots of information about manatees on the web and even looked them up in the old set of encyclopedia here at mom's. (when is the last time you looked at something in an encyclopedia!?) i sorted through mom's potatoes to find at least one that might resemble a manatee. close, but no great matches. finally, i made a donation to the defenders of wildlife organization to care for the manatee. when libby was in middle school i began to call her my sweet little manatee so manatees have a special place in my heart!
