one of my favorite yearly rituals is getting the screened porch ready for the warm weather season. i was fortunate to have family visit for the memorial day weekend and getting the porch tidy was our main activity of the visit. while it's work, it's not really. we clean everything, declutter, rearrange the furniture, move houseplants from inside to the porch. after the porch is made inviting, we spent most of the remainder of the visit sitting there; drinking tea, eating meals, watching the wildlife and sunsets. it's ridiculous how we can spend so much time arranging and rearranging the stones in the small fountain until the water trickle sounds the most musical.

i'm taking a road trip today so we'll play a road trip game for whimsical wednesday. perhaps you won't be on any road but you will still be able to play. dogs. we're spotting (no pun intended) dogs. maybe you'll see them in cars, on billboards, in yards, walking on sidewalks, on tv, magazines. keep track. how many  dogs did you see by the end of the day? report your tally to the whimsey project! ps....if you have a dog you only have to count him/her once.

we are celebrating national shrimp day for whimsical wednesday! there are many ways to partake of shrimp day! you could eat shrimp out, eat shrimp in. go shrimp fishing. draw a shrimp, fold an origami shrimp. fly a shrimp kite. color something shrimp pink! remember i said you could think beyond the concrete manifestation of shrimp? shrimp is slang for small. that's another tangent you can take to celebrate national shrimp day. have a whimsical wednesday celebrating shrimp!
