miscellaneous monday at the whimsey project! our day to share all the stuff you don't share the rest of the week. bring on the miscellaneous!

it's the day after easter. there are hard boiled eggs (dyed pretty colors for easter) left from the celebrations. what do you do (or did) with your leftover easter eggs?

there's always been the activity of dyeing easter eggs, even with the advent of plastic eggs that can be decorated and filled with goodies. the real eggs were hidden.  sometimes not all were found! what remains becomes deviled eggs, made with grandmother klasek's recipe. when i think about it, easter eggs are an excuse to make grandma's deviled eggs!  here's the recipe:

per each hard boiled egg yoke, add one teaspoon of yellow mustard and one teaspoon of vinegar.
after the yokes are mixed and then refilled in the white halves, sprinkle with chili powder.

as dad used to say, "that's a deviled egg!"

get ready.....

we will be celebrating national pencil day for whimsical wednesday! gather pencils in the meantime.

get out your favorite coloring tools and your adult coloring book because we are coloring for whimsical wednesday! don't have a coloring book for adults? use one for kids? don't have a kid coloring book? coloring sheets can be printed off the internet. or you can draw scribbles on a piece of paper and color those. we did this when we were kids and it was fun. (if you don't know about scribble drawing, here's how: with a pencil, make a continuous line on a piece of paper; including circles and loops and such that will create shapes on the page. color in these shapes with different colors.) enjoy your coloring session!

it's time, once again, to attempt to attract the elusive baltimore oriole. according to all the maps i have examined, my area is part of their territory. this year, i did further research on attracting the birds to my environment. i'm beginning a month earlier than in previous years. those birds have to see signs of the color orange early on or they'll just pass by. armed with more information and the usual determination, here we go again.

whimsical wednesday

whimsical wednesday at the whimsey project! today we are examining a page in a book. select a book. a coffee table sized book offers the most possibilities for the activity. select a page with lots of words (coffee table books often have photographs). after selecting the book and the page in the book, get ready to begin with paper and pencil. read one page of the book. every time there's a punctuation mark, write that mark on the paper. after getting to the end of the page, look at the results!

the photo shows my results. there are a lot of  ). , - ; ( and the markings on the paper reminds me of woodstock talking to snoopy. his word bubble is filled with scratchings! the patterns the punctuation marks are lyrical to me. this activity would make a great addition to art journaling; that's the next step. share your page!
