having finished the fire line, i return, once again, to logbook for grace by robert murphy. daily life on the whaling ship, daisy, continues. at this point in the book, murphy details the process the tracking, then hanging on to a harpooned whale.

june is a month with five wednesdays, therefore, we take a week to write in our journals. what journals do we write in? any journals you wish to keep. i have a journal for my farm, a personal journal, a memory notebook and a notable notebook. the last is a place to record neat stuff that i read here and there. if you haven't started any type of journal, today is a good day to begin!

there's an age old adage to always put the cap back on the tube of toothpaste. besides the mess of having the cap one place and the tube in another, what's the big deal? i decided to find out if there was a big deal. about ten days ago i started leaving the cap off the tube of toothpaste. toward the end of that time, i tried to squeeze toothpaste out of the tube and nothing happened! i squeezed harder. still nothing. another go at it had the toothpaste flying out of the tube and all over me and the sink but none in the toothbrush! lesson learned? put the cap back on the toothpaste tube after use because if the toothpaste is exposed to air long enough, it dries out and plugs the tube.  that appears to be a big deal!
