trivia tuesday

trivia tuesday at the whimsey project! our day to share all manner of trivia. since it's st patrick's day and the wearing of the green, it would be especially neat to read any st patrick's trivia you might have. bring it on!

corned beef is not an irish dish.  bacon is what was used to cook with potatoes, carrots and cabbage. the irish that immigrated to america used corned beef instead of bacon because it was cheaper and more readily available. there's no corn in corned beef. the term refers to the process of spicing the meat in which whole grains for flavoring were utilized.

here's one on me about st patrick's day.  i was with a group of friends one march as st patrick's day was approaching.  we talked about what we were doing that day. one gal said that everyone should remember to wear green. i said i didn't have anything green.  after a moment everyone started laughing as they looked at me.  i looked too.  i was wearing a green tee shirt!  and that's no blarney!!
