whimsical wednesday

it was post-thanksgiving day for whimsical wednesday.  besides talking (via email, phone) to friends to ask about their holiday, "thank you for sharing thanksgiving with me" notes were sent.  these were not only sent to those who were present but also to those who sent something to make our thanksgiving dinner even more tasty fine!  the notes were written on the turkey cards i made for thanksgiving.

get ready.....

let's extend thanksgiving this whimsical wednesday.  take the opportunity to spend time with someone you weren't able to be with at thanksgiving but would have enjoyed doing so.  a visit, a call, a note in the mail, whatever you wish.

whimsical wednesday

preparing something special for thanksgiving was our whimsical wednesday activity.  my preparation was to gather materials for a dinner table game.  a simple card, stamped with a turkey, and pens were placed into a container.  these will be used to have everyone write something special about any thanksgiving they have experienced, their favorite aspects of thanksgiving or share something humorous about thanksgiving.  the container was placed on the table to serve as a centerpiece.

we had a second whimsical wednesday activity today.  we decided to have a thanksgiving eve celebration; a bonfire in the outdoor fire pit.  the weather was lovely and the moon bright in a clear sky.  we tended the fire, roasted hot dogs, brats and marshmallows.  there was lots of talk, a few games like 20 questions and much laughter.  happy thanksgiving eve!

get ready.....

variety of activity for whimsical wednesday is very important to me.  however, every thanksgiving brings a wednesday, thanksgiving eve.  that means every thanksgiving eve, whimsical wednesday, has to have a thanksgiving theme.  this year, prepare something to be utilized on thanksgiving day. i will be preparing an activity for us to engage in on the most wonderful holiday of the year!

my friend shared this hilarious yet thoughtful quote with me recently:

before one can be old and wise, one has to be young and dumb!

whimsical wednesday

we made or bought thanksgiving greeting cards for this whimsical wednesday.  mine were created today.  a simple post card in a lovely fall color stamped with thanksgiving motifs.  i shall be handwriting the sentiment the rest of the week and mail the cards on saturday.  that must mean that whimsical wednesday will last all week!  will others be receiving your thanksgiving greetings next week?  (one of our whimsey project followers already sent her cards and i was THANKFUL to have received one!)

get ready.....

i'm all about remembering others at special times throughout the year; especially at thanksgiving, the most wonderful holiday there is.  for whimsical wednesday, prepare cards or postcards, store bought or homemade to send to at least five people who would be thrilled to find your thanksgiving greeting in their mailbox.

thoughtful thursday

people will often not remember precisely what you said or what you did, however, they will always remember how you made them feel.

whimsical wednesday

we added family stories to our memory books for whimsical wednesday.  family stories are very important; threads that connect one generation to another.  when i write about family in my memory book, i think about my children and grandchildren and how much they will enjoy reading the entries.  the entries will offer the opportunity to remember experiences or learn something new.  i just hope they enjoy reading the stories as much as i enjoy writing them.

get ready.....

november is family stories month!  for whimsical wednesday, enter a family story or two in your memory book.  then share the stories during your thanksgiving celebration and ask those gathered to offer stories as well.

thoughtful thursday

the eastern seaboard of the united states was ravaged by a super storm a few days ago; leaving in its wake much destruction.  as is always comforting in such situations, people from all over the country unite to offer assistance in any form necessary to rescue fellow citizens.  imagine how awesome the world would be if we treated each other with such care and concern all the time, in good times as well as bad!
