whimsical wednesday

it's apple day for whimsical wednesday! eat an apple, make a familiar apple recipe, try a new apple recipe, drink apple cider, craft with apples, play the game apples to apples! everything apples for whimsical wednesday!

my whimsical wednesday apple day will focus on trying a new apple recipe; found in a family fun magazine.  here it is if you wish to try it yourself:

apple chips.

*preheat oven to 250 degrees.

*thin slice crisp apples (i'm using honey crisp apples).
*place in single layer on a baking sheet (i'm covering the sheet with aluminum foil before placing apples on sheet).
*dust apple slices with cinnamon/sugar mixture.
*bake for 90 minutes, turning once at 45 minutes.
*remove from oven and cool.

i am looking forward to trying the apple crisp recipe.  what are you doing with apples for whimsical wednesday?

  1. Sliced apples dipped in Pimento cheese(one of the 5 food groups in the south) is my go-to apple recipe for a quick snack.

  2. the apple crisps were prepared and gobbled up! they were very tasty. extra baking time was needed because the hand slicing of the apples made for uneven slices. but the recipe worked and the apple crisps were delicious. i will make this recipe again.

  3. I guess I did apple day on Tuesday. Had about 6 apples left in a 1/2 peck bag and needed to use them. Not enough for a regular apple crisp, so used a very small casserole dish. Halved and then halved again the recipe for topping. But then, I guess I did celebrate apple day as I had some of the apple crisp with granola for breakfast!
