solitude sunday

solitude sunday at the whimsey project.  our day to spend time with a book.

today's reading session of robert hughes' american visions: the epic history of art in america, featured impressionistic art.  begun in paris, the impressionist movement was reviled by the french but beloved in america.  most of the paris originated art, therefore, made its way to america; allowing america to become the largest collector of the impressionist movement.  several american artists joined the impressionist movement and they were truly celebrated at home and, eventually, abroad. interestingly, tiffany, of stained glass fame, was named louis comfort.  that intrigues on several levels.

what are you reading? share your book with the whimsey project this solitude sunday.
