whimsical wednesday

we're celebrating national potato month for whimsical wednesday! definitely eat potatoes today; mashed, baked, fried, a new recipe. craft with potatoes.  play with potatoes! when thinking about your potato activity, think whimsical and unusual for the use of potatoes.  share your potato happenings with the whimsey project!

  2. potatoes for whimsical wednesday unfolded very differently than planned. the only fresh taters in the house, small new potatoes, had seen better days. plan b for using those potatoes turned the mesh sackful into a bird feeder of sorts. the birds took to it almost immediately and even more are eating there today.

    not wholly satisfied with that activity, my version of sweet potato pie was baked. instead of pie crust, cans of cinnamon rolls were used for the base. the individual circles of dough were unrolled and pressed close together to cover the bottom of a 9x13 pan. even though i looked at a recipe, i made the filling my own and poured it over the unbaked "pie crust". after it baked and cooled, it was sampled with a huge blanket of whipped cream. tasty fine. there. much better!
