solitude sunday

solitude sunday at the whimsey project.  our day to spend time with a book.  any book will do but pay particular attention to those that have been waiting a long time to be read.

today's reading session with robert hughes' american visions: the epic history of art in america, was my favorite thus far.  the topic was painting the american west; landscapes and native americans. by the time of remington, one of the best known artists for depicting the american west in art, the west was more tame than wild.  he created western art of what people thought the west was instead of what it had become.

what are you reading? share your book with the whimsey project.

  1. Reading 2 different things. For an online class I'm taking, reading a book about Laura Ingalls Wilder. Eventually, we will be reading (revisiting in my case!) several of the Little House on the Prairie series.
Also, I have long been fascinated with the royal family of England and recently bought a biography of her life. I've only made it through young adulthood, before she was crowned as Queen, but have been enjoying.

  2. Just read my previous comment and realize it is incomplete. I am reading a biography of Queen Elizabeth.
