solitude sunday

solitude sunday at the whimsey project.  our day to spend time with a book.  any book will do, however, think about selecting those books that have been sitting on the shelf for awhile.

today's reading of may brawley hill's grandmother's garden: the old-fashioned american garden (1865-1915) centered on the 1890s.  during this decade, the first published works on the garden in companion to architecture was published.  the garden was recognized as important to the setting of design and space as the buildings the gardens enhanced.  also, as time passed, the original grandmother's gardens had become partly historical.  to keep the colonial gardens viable, written publications had to share this history.  many artists used the the garden as a subject.

what are you reading? share your book with the whimsey project.
