one of my favorite yearly rituals is getting the screened porch ready for the warm weather season. i was fortunate to have family visit for the memorial day weekend and getting the porch tidy was our main activity of the visit. while it's work, it's not really. we clean everything, declutter, rearrange the furniture, move houseplants from inside to the porch. after the porch is made inviting, we spent most of the remainder of the visit sitting there; drinking tea, eating meals, watching the wildlife and sunsets. it's ridiculous how we can spend so much time arranging and rearranging the stones in the small fountain until the water trickle sounds the most musical.
