whimsical wednesday

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

we are looking for holiday decorations for whimsical wednesday on new year's day!  we will be doing so on our road trip home from visiting family later today.  however, if you aren't taking a road trip, perhaps you'll be driving in town or you still have your own decorations on display!  as i write, i'm sitting in mom's living room enjoying her christmas tree.  report your sightings!  hopefully i'll have at least one holiday decoration display to report once i am home again!

  1. the six hour drive home from visiting family offered an amazing array of holiday decorations still on display! we were excited to find many wreaths on doors and windows, lawn decorations of snowflakes, candy canes and inflatable characters. a few deer statues were spotted with huge red ribbons around their necks. houses had lights glowing and several businesses were still in holiday regalia. a stop at the kentucky welcome center revealed a christmas tree in the lobby decorated with ornaments created by school children. one house still had a lighted christmas tree brightly shining through the picture window. we drove through downtown to get home. all along broadway the city's decorations were like beacons in the dark leading to the courthouse square. the main decorations were so pretty. five more miles and home we were. we saw outdoor light displays still burning. the nearest neighbor's display greeted us as if to offer a personal welcome home! needless to state, we thoroughly enjoyed our whimsical wednesday road trip adventure!

  2. We were surprised how many lights were still up last night on our way home. Our outside lights were on to welcome us home to a New Year! While the front yard lights will soon be taken down, we are enjoying the lights on the white picket fence in the back yard--- those will stay up in the dark night for awhile. If we can still find white lights, we will put those up for the winter.
