whimsical wednesday

we're reading a book for whimsical wednesday! not an entire book exactly. select a book you haven't read. read nothing but the first and last pages. what did you learn about the story from reading the beginning and the end? share your book with the whimsey project today!

we have a box of books ready for the charity resale show. i selected my book from the box; waggit again by peter howe. it's a young readers' book. with a dog on the cover of the book, i inferred the story is about a dog and waggit is the dog's name. reading the first and last pages of waggit again, it seems waggit was somewhere he didn't want to be, escaped and made it back to where he wanted to be. all the pages in between must detail his adventures along the way.  maybe i'll read the in between pages to the little ones and we'll find out about his journey together.

  1. Wasn't there a little girl in the Peanut's comics named with a number?

  2. I didn't see this until this morning, so doing it day late because it sounded fun. I choose one of my son's books as I have read all of mine and wanted something I knew nothing about. I chose "Code Orange" by Caroline B. Cooney.
First page, A boy, Mitty, is in Advanced Biology class and finds out he is to turn in notes on a term paper he has supposed to have been working on for four weeks. (Got the impression he hasn't started) The notes must include a bibliography with, all things 4 books!
Last page, Mitty is in the hospital. His father, mother leave to go home and sister is flying back to school. Apparently this is the first time they are leaving him along in the hotel room. He must have gotten very sick. The story ends with him looking out the window at the New York City skyline.

I think this is a science fiction book, which I don't read much of but I might have to read this one to see what happened to Mitty!
