solitude sunday at the whimsey project. our day to spend time with a book; any book but those especially that rests on our bookshelves that we have been meaning to read.
my reading session was later today as i had out of town company this weekend. when i could settle down to read, i was able to finish thomas cahill's, how the irish saved civilization; the untold story of ireland's heroic role from the fall of rome to the rise of medieval europe. this volume is the first in cahill's, hinges of history series. the remaining few chapters described how ireland became diminished through invasions, famine and mass emigration. however, it was concluded, that the irish gave so much to the world, through the fall of rome and dark ages, that nothing could diminish this land and it's people.
